Building “New Beginnings” starts by thanking our community. We are humbled by the support our community has provided to Safe Passage for the past 40 years. Because of your compassion, generosity, and belief in healing, we have been able to grow and stand beside individuals and families during some of the hardest moments in their lives.
Our Mission
Safe Passage was founded on the belief that everyone deserves safety, dignity, and the chance to heal. Over time, our services have grown to meet the needs of our community. Today, we provide emergency shelter, advocacy, counseling, and ongoing support for survivors rebuilding their lives. Each service helps create a path toward stability and hope.
A Growing Need
The need for services has grown, and our current space no longer meets the demands of those we serve. We have purchased property at 217 Franklin in DeKalb and will build “New Beginnings” to bring all programs together under one roof.
This change will reduce barriers for survivors and improve how quickly we can respond. It will also allow our team to coordinate care more effectively and provide a more consistent and supportive experience.

“New Beginnings” is designed with safety, privacy, and healing in mind. By housing shelter services, advocacy, and support programs in one location, we can offer more seamless care during crisis. This also helps keep families connected while they receive the support they need to move forward.
